Customer service guru and motivational speaker tells tales on Retail..!

Wednesday, May 26, 2004

It is the 26th May 2004 today, and I wrote last year "In vino veritas" I think I got that wrong, maybe it should have been "in VINUM veritas"? I really DONT know enough educated people. *sigh*

Anyway, here is my discourse of In vino veritas or In vinum veritas (whichever is correct).

Miller, the boy who was explaining the saying to me was saying it meant that when you were drunk you were more likely to tell the truth about how you really felt. Having ruminated this and dissecting it in my brain I think the saying is only half right.

When you're well pissed and on the pull then you become a slippery snake of lies and false flattering, "You're SO amazing" "I could tell there was something between us" "You are the most beautiful person I have ever met" etc etc. So clearly at this point you're being as honest as as Bill Clinton in front of a grand jury.

Where the truth part comes in is when you say "Listen, I really wanna fuck!" Because you do - at that actual moment in time and reality, when your heart is beating and your body is pining for pleasure. BUT is it a TRUE feeling?

The next day do you wake up and think "Oh God no! How could I do that?" If so then you haven't been true to yourself at all. And all the vino/vinum/vodka whatever did to you was get you fucked up and drunk and made you drop your pants.

And here the lecture endeth, please collect a hand out sheet on the way out, you WILL be tested on this in your final exams.

This is a blog all about my experiences in Retail. As a retail support manager for a UK retail company I despair of the lack of customer service that is endemic everywhere I seem to shop, and I have plenty of opinions on this subject too!
