Back once again!!
As my blogger seems to be in danger of turning into a Womans Own "Handy Tips" page (see comments for entry preceding this one) I find I must update henceforth or lose my current trendy readership to dissatified housewives!
Little Manga
I am reminded today of Mira Manga as a little girl. When I was 6 my
school took us to see a working farm and there were two agricultural students who had to show us around. One was called Dick (yes I know!) and he looked like Luke from The Dukes of Hazzard and I took a shine to him. I followed him everywhere and sat on his lap to eat lunch and when it was time to go home I kissed him on the cheek. As I turned to take the giant steps up into the coach to take me home, I caught a glance of myself in the window, and the sight was of a flushed looking dishevelled little monkey-girl. The belt attached to my dress was dangling from the straps and my patent black sandals were all muddy.
Days On The Road
Went to visit the boy Mark on some
Vaults dates. Wow, that band can really rock! In Liverpool I shared a sleeping bag with the boy but in Liverpool we got
Ollie's bed - which is the squeakiest in the land! Ollie, by cruel twist of fate, left Sheff two days before I arrived so we missed each other once again. It was a lovely few days in Tour Land, I'm always left
desolate when the little bear leaves me, so it was nice to see him
In Birmingham a supporting band featured Vernon Kaye's
doppleganger, well, an ALMOST
doppleganger had he been slightly skinnier. When I questioned him he said "Yeah, everyone calls me Vernon Kaye....or Spartacus". The mind boggles!!!
SURFEROSA
SURFEROSA are my
all new favourite band. I caught them in Birmingham supporting
The Vaults and they
rocked my pants off!!! Next night I take Lady Fong, Sir Paul Terratag, my little Dewey lookeylikey housemate Tristan and Jock Tristan to marvel at their greatness. They play at Metro and are once again amazing and
rock everyones pants off!!! Especially Jock Tristan who gets mucho attention from the supersexy Marianne (singer) which makes me
horribly envious. (Even though I have a helluva cool sexy boyfriend, Marianne makes me go gooey eyed! Grrr!) Marianne grabs Jock Tristan and spills his drink over him while pulling and pushing at him...the poor boy looked completely dazed by it! (He's not used to all the attention). We adourn after the gig to a Weatherspoons and drink beer with lime in, (this always makes me think of my friend Roshanne, Miller & lime was
her beverage!)
I'd describe
SURFEROSA as synthpop, and if I was feeling particularly narcissistic I may
allude to a band of yore nomikered
Disco Pistol as a point of reference to their sound stylings. If you get ANY OPPORTUNITY to see this band, go! go! go! I implore you! It would be utterly fucking criminal to miss them.
